In the mid 1990s the Chapter decided to have a permanent Nave Altar with choir stalls. Mock-up choir stalls were used to test the space requirements and then a design for the Dais and Choir stalls was developed. Interlaced arches closely related to the transition between Romanesque and Gothic were used to articulate the front of the stalls and a more Arts and Crafts style adopted for the remaining detailing.
A music stand was added in 1999 for the Director of Music and then a lectern, both in oak to fit in with the Nave Sanctuary choir stalls.
Candle sticks in gilded oak, echoing the pyramid motifs on the Chapel screen, were commissioned by the Chapter for the altar in St Andrews Chapel in 2002.
All pieces of furniture were designed by Henry Freeland, Cathedral Architect, and made by W.S. Lusher & Sons.
