An unassuming 1970s house on the High Street was extended across the frontage with a two-storey extension creating space for a double height study with feature bay window and stair/bookcase in maple, a glass-block entrance porch, an extra bedroom and extended split level bathroom with sunken bath. The extension makes full use of the slight slope across the site with the existing roof carried through to the new eaves level, unifying old and new. The client is an expert on German art and stylistic references to Bauhaus architecture were a key generator in the design.
