Lane House is a Grade II listed thatched cottage. The cottage had been extended in the 1980s with a boxy two-storey thatched extension which increased the living and bedroom accommodation but the kitchen remained as a galley corridor. Our extension added two gabled extensions at 90° to the original kitchen, creating a T - shaped space. The sloping ceiling incorporates reclaimed timber beams and a high level south facing window with French doors that open out on to the garden. The new painted kitchen units with beech worktops give a light and airy feel.

Externally the colour scheme was changed with the pink render repainted in cream over a black plinth. The dark brown joinery of the windows was painted white and the cottage has gained a lighter appearance. The extension was roofed in thatch that has quickly weathered in to match the existing.
