Bourn Village Hall, Cambridgeshire

Bourn Village Hall stands just to the north of the parish church. Built in 1866 the original building was the Parochial School for Bourn village. When a new school was built in the 1950s the building was returned to its original donors who set up a charitable trust so that the building could remain in the possession of the village and act as the village hall.

A successful lottery bid enabled a new extension to be built doubling the building’s original footprint and providing accommodation for the playgroup, accessible lavatory facilities and a new committee room. A new ramp now allows all members of the community to access the building.

The area behind the hall was opened up and a new path through the trees unites church and hall substantially improving the accessibility of the church for wheelchair users and allowing access from the hall car park through a new lych-gate.
