Client – Trinity Hall
Date of Completion – 2005
The original Trinity Hall sports pavilion, built in 1909, provided a small cricket pavilion with limited changing facilities. In the 1930s two squash courts were added and in the 1960s and 1970s further extensions were added. In the 1970s women had to share the facilities and in the 1990s the squash court was connected to a small gym.
The College recognised the need for improvements. It was agreed that the 1960s and 1970s extensions should be demolished and, as the squash courts did not meet modern standards, these should be replaced. The planners, the College and the local residents were keen for the 1909 pavilion to remain and it was decided that the this should be the hub of the new building. The new facilities comprise four changing rooms, a referee’s and a disabled changing room, a store, a gym and yoga room, two squash courts, a kitchen and an office. The old pavilion houses the social and club areas and the viewing area for watching squash matches.
