King’s College Coffee Bar, Cambridge

Client – King’s College
Date of Completion – 2002

The bar in King’s College was not providing all the facilities desired by students and fellows. Freeland Rees Roberts refurbished the existing TV Room and Table Tennis Room and part of the bar area to create a tranquil space with sofas to relax in and contemporary café-type seating, for people to meet in a light, vibrant atmosphere within the historic Grade I Listed building.

The Coffee Bar includes a bespoke servery, clad in hammered copper, where light snacks are displayed. This area can be separated from the main space by a folding acoustic partition when cloakroom facilities are required for conference use.
