Consent granted for Bawdsey Radar project

We have just secured listed building and planning consent for conservation work and new interpretation centre for the Transmitter Block for the Bawdsey Radar Trust. The block is a Grade II* listed building and one of several structures at Bawdsey on the Suffolk coast that together formed the first operational Radar station in the world and played such a vital role in the defence of Britain during World War Two. It is on the buildings at risk register and after extensive discussions with English Heritage and the Local Planning Authority a programme of restoration has been agreed which we hope will save the building for future generations and tell the fascinating story of Radar.

The project is currently awaiting HLF Stage 2 approval.
